Privacy & your data
Your notes are yours. Kyonote stores the minimum it needs to make your study tools, keeps your data separate from every other user, and never uses your notes to train models.
The Kyonote privacy settings
What Kyonote stores
Kyonote keeps a small set of data so it can make and hold onto your study tools:
- Your notebooks and files. The PDFs and notes you add, so Kyonote can make podcasts, audiobooks, flashcards, quizzes, and mock exams from them.
- What Kyonote makes. The podcasts, audiobooks, decks, quizzes, and mock exams generated from your files, so they're there when you come back.
- Your account profile. Your name and the basics needed to sign you in.
It's encrypted in storage and in transit.
What Kyonote doesn't do
- It doesn't train on your notes. Your files are used to make your study tools and nothing else.
- It doesn't share your data with other users. Your notebooks are kept separate at the database level — no other Kyonote user can see, query, or surface anything from your account.
- It doesn't read files you didn't add. Kyonote only sees the PDFs and notes you choose to put in a notebook.
Removing things
- Remove a file from a notebook and it's gone from that notebook.
- Remove a notebook and its files and the tools made from it go with it.
Exporting your data
A built-in export is coming soon. In the meantime, email [email protected] and the team will put together a copy of your data for you.
Deleting your account
A self-serve delete button is coming soon and will live in Settings → Account.
For now, if you'd like your account and all associated data removed, email [email protected] from the address on your account. Kyonote removes your notebooks, files, generated tools, and profile, and confirms once it's done.
