Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 16, 2026 (DRAFT)

About this policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Kyonote ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Kyonote study app across our mobile app and web interfaces. Kyonote is operated by the Kyonote team and accessible at https://kyonote.com. Kyonote lets you upload notes and PDFs into a notebook and generates a podcast, an audiobook, flashcards, a quiz, and a mock exam from that material. By using Kyonote, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Information we collect

Kyonote collects three categories of information. (1) Study material you upload: the notes, PDFs, and other documents you add to your notebooks, along with the study outputs generated from them (podcast audio, audiobook audio, flashcards, quizzes, and mock exams). (2) Account information: the email address you use to sign in, and basic profile details you provide. (3) Product analytics: basic usage metrics such as screen views, feature usage, and performance data, collected to understand how the app is used and improve it. We do not analyze the content of your uploaded study material for analytics purposes.

How we use your data

We use the study material you upload solely to generate the study outputs you ask for — your two-host podcast, audiobook, flashcards, quiz, and mock exam — and to let you revisit and manage those outputs across your devices. We do NOT use your uploaded material to train AI models for other users, and we do not sell your data. To generate your study outputs, your material is processed by AI and text-to-speech providers under data-processing agreements that limit them to performing that processing for you and prohibit them from training on or retaining your data beyond the request. We do not share your study material with advertisers or data brokers. Aggregated, de-identified usage metrics may be used to improve Kyonote for everyone.

Data storage & security

Your data is stored on encrypted infrastructure. Data in transit is protected with TLS 1.2+, and data at rest is encrypted using industry-standard methods. Access to systems holding user data is restricted by role-based access control with audit logging. We follow industry-standard security practices including secret management, dependency scanning, and regular security review. Where we rely on infrastructure, AI/text-to-speech, and payment providers to operate Kyonote, they receive only the data needed to perform their function — for example, payment processors see purchase metadata, not your study material.

Data retention & deletion

Your notebooks, uploaded material, and generated study outputs persist as long as your account is active, so you can return to them. You can delete specific uploads, notebooks, or generated outputs at any time from within the app. If you delete your account, all associated data including your uploaded material and generated study outputs is permanently removed within 30 days. You can also request export or deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected] — we respond within 30 days.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time. Account deletion can be initiated from within the Kyonote app. For EU and UK residents, you have rights under GDPR including access, portability, rectification, erasure, restriction, and objection. For California residents, you have rights under CCPA and CPRA including the right to know, delete, and opt out of any sale of personal information (note: Kyonote does not sell personal information). To exercise any of these rights or ask a privacy question, contact [email protected] — we respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Kyonote evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or via email to the address on your account. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
